I will overwhelm 'legitimate fighter' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be shown live on Netflix.

British boxer Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" his opponent as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Ex twice unified title holder Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, theoretically, a mammoth uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Attitude

"I will damage his features and break his body up. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will really want to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Interaction

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically famous for his dramatics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted former Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and called him "a joke" after Ngannou turned down a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, targeted UK opponent Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Fighter

In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, consistently making massive paydays.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is allegedly under discussion for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As both boxers engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it highlighted just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the match is really happening.
